Overview
The program Bachelor of Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism program at WGSHA, Manipal Academy of Higher Education started in 2012.
Program objectives
- To enable students to understand processes affecting hospitality and tourism, and to familiarize them with industry responses to tourism trends and external influences.
- To give students the opportunity to acquire relevant knowledge and cultivate global competencies with an understanding of cultural concepts, processes and strategic travel management in order to seek gainful employment in the sector.
Graduates will have an understanding of national and international tourism management and will be well-equipped to shape the tourism and hospitality industry of the future.
In a new collaborative development with Manipal Academy of Higher Education, students can study the first half of their program for the University of Waikato’s Bachelor of Tourism in India and gain a Manipal Academy of Higher Education Certificate in Tourism Management before travelling to New Zealand to complete the degree and gain first-hand experience of the tourism and hospitality industry in a global setting.
The program offers state-of-the-art infrastructure like air-conditioned classrooms with world class contemporary teaching aids, studio kitchen, training restaurant, training kitchen, chef’s lounge, library, laboratories and campus facilities.

Eligibility
- Citizenship: Indian Nationals.
- Qualification: Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent.
- General Category: Admissions are done on the basis of rank in the All India Manipal University Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) 2014.

Konkani Scholarship
- A 10% waiver on the tuition fee is available for admission to all Manipal courses for Konkani speaking students only. They will need to still pay other fee as well as the remaining tuition fee.
- Eligible students need to apply separately after the admission.
- These candidates need to pay the full fee at the time of admission, however. The fee waiver will be given separately after scrutinizing their eligibility.
