Political Science is a versatile social science discipline leading to a variety of career paths. Incorporating a strong interdisciplinary emphasis in the structure and design of its prescribed syllabi, the subject fosters a systematic and scientific understanding of political systems, policymaking, governance issues, Indian and global governments, and procedures, theories, and practices of international politics. Seminars, writing and presenting research papers, presentations, projects, fieldworks, and internship are integrated into the curriculum. The study of Political Science facilitates analytical abilities, communication, leadership, and research skills. It also creates conscientious and alert citizens, Additionally, this part of the programme will assist students in taking up Civil Services, Political Leadership Positions, Political Consultancies, Embassy and Commission Works, Corporate Risks Analysis, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Works and assignments with international government organizations.
The Sociology courses are designed to cover themes and concepts relevant to both national and international contexts. Students are exposed to various perspectives on diverse social phenomena through which they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to comprehend these phenomena from a sociological perspective. Some of the areas that are emphasised on include Applied Sociology, Comparative Sociology, Cultural Sociology, Collective Behaviour, Crime and Delinquency, Community and Demography. This part of the programme facilitates an understanding of sociological conversations around the Sociology of Gender, Social Stratifications, Urban Sociology, Agrarian Sociology, Environmental Sociology, Sociology of Work and Industry, Visual Cultures, Indian Sociological Traditions and Reading Ethnographic Monographs.
